What is the Doula Project?
The project aims to provide doula services to parents with disabilities. Doulas act as an additional source of support for birthing parents with disabilities.
They can assist with providing critical advocacy and pre-partum and post-partum assistance. Many people with I/DD do not, however, understand how the family regulation system operates or how doulas can assist them. Conversely, doulas do not necessarily know how to work with people with disabilities.
